And so, we won the Ashes……

And so, England won the Ashes. But it doesn’t feel the same as 2005.

OK, so it hasn’t been anywhere near as long this time

We were playing an Australian team that did not have the same invicible aura as the previous team

And, is there a feeling that we sort of sneaked it, and weren’t necessarily the better team?

When I went out earlier, there weren’t people dancing on the streets, and even Freddie Flintoff says he is going to celebrate by taking his wife out to dinner, not indulging in the excesses of four years ago.

Will there by MBE’s for this year’s team? Perhaps not. But then what about a Knighthood for the Oval groundsman and a KBE for Monty Panesar for his batting heroics at Cardiff.

But we DID win the Ashes – let’s celebrate, and lets hope the ECB can make sure a team is built that can go to Australia and defend them this time
